Beautiful Birthday Flowers - Stampin' Up! Jar of Love - Fab Friday 106

And here we are back at Friday again and to make it even better it's a new Fab Friday challenge!  We have a really fun set of colors for you to create with this time.  When I first saw the color palette I really liked the colors together but then I started to think what am I going to do with these??  And,  I don't know if I can pull this off!

I sat down and pulled out the ink pads and was thinking maybe a tropical fish inspired card but then the sweet little flowers in the Jar of Love set caught my eye.  I've been trying to use more Annual Catalog sets as they've been quite neglected since the Holiday catalog was released in September and then the Occasions and Sale-a-Bration products in January.  Jar of Love is certainly a go to in my stamp set collection.  Birthday cards are at the top of my list so I got working!

The card base is thick Whisper White, then another layer of Whisper White embossed with the Woodgrain embossing folder.  From my scraps I pulled yet another piece of Whisper White and cut out a circle slightly off center.

More Whisper White scraps were used to make the flowers which I stamped in all of the challenge colors (except for Bermuda Bay), layering on different base colors and different highlighting colors.  The Bermuda Bay was used for the sprigs of greenery.  After stamping them all out I cut them out with the coordinating Everyday Jars framelits.

Next came the layering and arranging of the flowers on the edge of the circle cut out.  Several of the flowers are popped up with dimensionals for added interest.

I used the classic "Happy Birthday Wishes" sentiment from the Sale-a-Bration set Avant Garden and then popped the flower panel onto the card front with a few more dimensionals.

I hope you'll join in on this Fab Friday Challenge fun and share with us your awesome creation!  Check out the rest of the Design Team for more inspiration using our challenge colors!

Shout Out to My Chicks - Stampin' Up! Hey Chick

It has been a busy few weeks with lots of volunteer work at the boys schools.  Quite a few things all came due around the same time and I've spent a lot of time at school as well as organizing with other parents especially other room moms.  So this is a shout out to the other moms who I've been working with to say, "You're Awesome" and "It's been fun working with you!".

Here is a card to go along with my shout out to "my chicks"!

I'm still working through my pile of stamped Hardwood card parts but it's a fitting background for this awesome chick!  The Hey Chick stamp set has got to be the most popular Sale-a-Bration choice this year for sure!  I colored this one with my watercolor pencils then cut her out with the Layering Oval framelits and a black scalloped oval behind.

I had a small bit left of the 1/8" Real Red grosgrain ribbon from the Occasions catalog so I tied that around the card front and popped my chick over the top.  Finally, I added the "hey, chick!" sentiment.

Who do you need to send a shout out to?  Stamp a card and send it to them to let them know how much you appreciate what they've done for you or a loved one!

Wild Shirt Birthday - Stampin' Up! Custom Tee

I was going through my "cards to upload" folder and saw that I hadn't shared this fun and easy card yet.  My group of stampers made this one back at the beginning of January at my Occasions catalog/Sale-a-Bration kick off event.  We all need ideas for guy cards and this wild shirt card is just the thing!

I pulled the card colors from the fun Party Animal DSP in the Occasions catalog.  The patterns and colors are perfect for guy cards as well as kids cards.  The card base is Pacific Point and then a layer of the number pattern.   The yellow is Crushed Curry in the DSP pack but my Delightful Dijon is a pretty close match as well so that's what we used for the mat behind the main image layer.

On the Whisper White panel, we stamped 2 of the birthday greetings from Balloon Adventures in black.  It's hard to see but the open letters of the "party on" are colored in with Emerald Envy.

The shirt and buttons are stamped in black onto another of the patterns from the Party Animal DSP.  The pocket and collar are stamped in black on Emerald Envy cardstock and cut out.  Once the pieces of the shirt were put together the whole thing is popped up with dimensionals.

So check out your DSP stash and see what wild and crazy patterns you have so you can make a wild and crazy shirt for those wild and crazy guys!

Congrats in Sunset Colors - Stampin' Up! Special Reason

I love all the different colors the sky can be and am constantly telling my kids and husband "look at the sky!  How cool is that?!"  For the most part they humor me except for when I want them to sit with me on the porch and watch the thunderstorms, then they head inside and leave the crazy lady alone!  Some of my favorite skies are when we are down in the Outer Banks on vacation in the summer and see the sunset nearly every evening.  Of course I always take pictures that never seem to do the real thing justice.  It's kind of like that when you try to create a card using the sunset colors as inspiration....never quite as good!

I made this card with the Special Reason stamp set and Stylish Stems framelits and tried to pull some sunset colors together for the flowers.

The card base is thick Whisper White, then a layer of Crumb Cake stamped with the Hardwood background.  I have used Crumb Cake stamped with the Hardwood stamp a lot lately....I had a bunch of panels prepped for a Christmas card design that didn't get finished in time so I've been slowly using them up from my card parts pile.

The flowers are stamped off once with Cucumber Crush and cut out.  The larger flower is inked up first in Daffodil Delight then using a sponge dauber I lightly inked the tips of the petals with Calypso Coral.  Then I cut it out and overlaid a Calypso Coral die cut flower on top.  The small flower was inked up the same way except that I sponged the Calypso Coral on the center of the flower.

I layered the flower over a length of white organza ribbon.  The final step was the Congratulations from the Floral Phrases stamp set stamped in Soft Suede ink.

Avant Garden Thinking of You - Stampin' Up! Avant Garden

I saw a floral pattern in a catalog a few weeks ago and I thought it would be a good starting color combo for a card.  I added a bit of gold for some pop as well.  The Avant Garden stamp set which is a Sale-a-Bration choice is really growing on me so I grabbed that set to pair up with my color combo.

I started with a Night of Navy cardstock base.  I used a panel of Whisper White and cut the edge with the cool leaf edge die from the Botanical Builder framelits.  Next, I stamped the blossom in Night of Navy across the panel. I stamped it several times without reinking the stamp so I could get the lighter shade of blue for a nice layering effect.  I did the same with the leaf stamp in Old Olive.  Using gold ink I lightly stamped the little speckle stamp over the top of the flowers and leaves.

I stamped then cut a flower out with Layering Circles framelit and backed it with an Old Olive circle.  The center of the flower is embossed in gold.  The sentiment banner is stamped and also embossed with gold using the 'thinking of you' sentiment from Sheltering Tree.

I added a little gold twine bow to finish off the last detail.

Sunshine is On Its Way - Stampin' Up! Sunshine Sayings

Here we are back again at another Fab Friday challenge!  Time really does fly when you're having fun....that or you're just so busy there isn't really even a moment to look at a clock to check on the time passing!  One thing I do know is that the last 8 years as a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator have just flown by.  I celebrated my 8th anniversary yesterday and continue to enjoy creating and teaching others about papercrafting.  I'm blessed that my family supports me and that I continue to have such a lovely group of stampers join me every month for classes.  Here's to another fun 8 years!

Check out this cool sketch for challenge number 105!  What are you going to do with that circle??

Here's what I came up with!

I was so happy when the new Stitched Shapes framelits were available again after flying off the shelves back in the fall.  I wasn't quick enough with my order so I missed them the first time.  They finally arrived last week and I was happy to see that I could use them right away on my Fab Friday Challenge card!

The base is Crumb Cake - which you can't see at all because it's covered by the gorgeous Serene Scenery DSP.  This is a pack with a fun mix of real photo images and printed patterns.  The other day I needed a "thinking of you" type of card and when I went to my card box to get one there weren't many choices so I figured I had better get a few made to keep on hand.  I cut the circle with the Stitched Shapes framelits and then nipped the edge off.  I embossed in black "is on its way" from the Sunshine Sayings stamp set.  Above that is the big die cut "sunshine" from the coordinating Sunshine Wishes Thinlets.  I did a watercolor wash with Daffodil Delight ink on Shimmery White cardstock to keep the feel light and bright...I didn't want to use the Daffodil Delight cardstock as it was a bit too "in your face" yellow for what I was going for.

Behind the circle I layered some ribbon scraps and used a cute little safety pin tied with a baker's twine bow.  To balance the ribbon and clothespin elements I added a few enamel shapes to the top of the circle.

I hope you'll join the Fab Friday team with this fun sketch challenge!  Link up in the gallery so we can see your creative genius!

Garden in Bloom Birthday - Stampin' Up Garden in Bloom

It was Ryan's teachers birthday last week and of course I can't let an occasion go by with out making a card to celebrate!  She loves the color purple and working in her garden so I went with that theme for the card.  It went well with the garden center gift certificate and purple gardening gloves that we got her.

I have a horrible tendency to forget about stamp sets once the new has worn off and the next catalog has come out or the next major holiday is looming on the calendar.  I don't love them any less but they just end up on the bottom of the stack and I don't reach for them as often.  Garden in Bloom was sadly one of these sets until I decided to use it for this birthday card.  And I'm reminded why I love it again!

The base is Whisper White and then a slightly smaller layer of Basic Gray.  I embossed the flower and leaves in white for the background.

The top layer of Whisper White is embossed with the Elegant Dots embossing folder and layered over Rich Razzleberry cardstock.

The sentiment is stamped in Basic Gray onto Delightful Dijon cardstock and then flagged. The flower and leaves are stamped in Basic Gray onto Whisper White.  The flower was filled in with Rich Razzleberry and the center with Delightful Dijon and the leaves with Old Olive.  I hand cut them and layered them over the edge of the sentiment.

Then I used my Wink of Stella pen and colored in the flower petals.

Definitely take a look at your stamp sets and pull out an old favorite and give it some love!
